Beef Island Airport - 1974

In 1974 I went on a Windjammer Cruise. I flew into San Juan, Puerto Rico and the next day flew in a puddle-jumper to the Beef Island Airport. Beef Island has a bridge connecting it with Tortola. In Roadtown, Tortola we boarded the Flying Cloud for a cruise around the British Virgin Islands.

As I remember, I waited for a bus to Roadtown in the lounge which was a picnic table in an open area outside the terminal. There was a small, self serve, refrigerator with some cola and beer in it along with a cigar box and a note something like "Cola: $1, Beer: $2."

The Beef Island Airport has changed quite a bit since 1974; what a surprise. It's now the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport.
